Do you watch Q&A on the ABC each Monday night? I do, well, at least I try every week.

One of my favourite Q&As was when former Prime Minister John Howard was on by himself – talk about live TV at its best! Howard was coming back into public life 2 years after his election defeat to Kevin Rudd and he had a question from David Hicks and a then a show thrown at him!

David Hicks asked the former PM if he believed he had been treated humanely during the 5 and a half years he spent in the Guantanamo Bay Military Prison. See below:

The other very notable thing that occured was an audience member -Peter Gray – threw a shoe at the former PM in response to one of his answers on the war in Iraq.

Well Mr Gray dies 6 months after the episode of Q&A from a cancer.

In his will he asked the ABC and Red Cross to auction the pair of shoes that he threw at the PM to raise money for the work of the ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross) in Iraq! How cool is that!

So today from 12pm the shoes will go up on Ebay to be sold to the highest bidder. The shoes will be up on Ebay for 10 days and all proceeds from the sale will be given to the ICRC in Iraq.

Ever been frustrated by a car parking in a bike lane?

Ever had to swerve to avoid a car sitting right in your clearly marked bike lane?

Ever had the urge to run over that car with a tank?

If you have answered yes to all three questions you will love Mayor Arturas Zuokas! He has also  had the urge to run over one of these annoying cars and being mayor in a small Eastern European country (where, lets face it, anything goes!) he actually drove a tank over a parked car!

I shall repeat that for emphasis: HE DROVE A TANK OVER A CAR PARKED IN A BIKE LANE!

I don’t know about you but I feel an overwhelming desire to applaud!

I think my favourite part of this story is not that he rn overthe car with a tank, but that it seemed as if that was the first idea that came into his mind. He said this about the incident:

“This tank is a good tool to solve the problem of parking in the wrong place.”

I wonder if Clover Moore has any left over Cold War period Tanks lying around that she can use for this exact purpose!

Lets all hope so!
